Policies and Procedures

Dress Code

Hair must be pulled back and out of the dancer’s face at all times. Street shoes are not permitted on the dance floor at any time. Once you are certain your child will continue with a particular class, please check with their instructor to see what type of dance shoe is required for the class they are enrolled. For example, one tap class may wear flat tan taps while another will wear black character taps. No students may wear oversized or bulky t-shirts, sweatshirts, or pants. Students improperly dressed will be informed that they must dress properly for the next class. Failure to do so will result in parental notification or refusal to participate in class. For specific class requirements regarding dance attire, please see below.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Drop Off/Pick Up: We ask that you drop your child off 10 minutes before their class is scheduled to begin.  This allows students time to prepare for class. Visitors will not be allowed to stay during class time. This will ensure a calm learning environment so each student can focus solely on the teacher’s instructions. Please make arrangements with your child about their pick up prior to coming to class. Phone calls will not be allowed to go out during class time unless it is an emergency. Every parent must come pick up their child inside the studio, we will not let any child downstairs to meet their parents in the parking lot. Please come up to meet your child in the studio after their class ends. Please be prompt when picking up your child. Some children become very distressed when parents are not there to greet them at the end of class.

Parking: Our parking is located across the street from the studio in the lot with Sign’s By Tomorrow. No one is permitted to park in front of the studio door, or behind the building (next to All State).  You will receive a ticket or get towed. Please do not stop in front of the studio door for your child to “hop” in the car.  After 4:30, we have permission to park in The Coffee Station’s parking lot.

Emergency Closings

In case of an emergency closing, there will be a message left on the studio phone voicemail, and a message posted on both the Kathi’s Dance Studio Facebook and Instagram pages. In the event of an emergency closing, classes will not be rescheduled; however the individual student will be permitted to make-up the class in a class that is equal in level to the one canceled within 1 month of the missed class. It is the sole responsibility of the student to make arrangements for these classes. No tuition is refunded due to inclement weather.

Attendance

If your child is to miss class for any reason we ask that you notify us as soon as possible via phone call or email. If your child is absent for 2 or more weeks of classes a KDS staff member will be reaching out to confirm that your child is continuing with classes. Extended absences (2 weeks or more) due to illness or injury must be submitted in writing to the studio. Dance involves progressive learning and regular attendance is essential to a student’s progress. This becomes especially important when we are preparing for our recital. If a student misses class they will miss out on choreography and can quickly fall behind. It is the responsibility of the student to talk to their teacher before class about anything they may have missed.

Payment Policies

Tuition is due the first class of each month, September through June. Tuition is an annual charge divided equally into 10 payments, payable monthly.  Therefore, tuition remains the same each month no matter how many classes are held.  The accepted forms of payment are: cash, check, Visa, Master Card, Discover, or an electronic debit. If for any reason you will not be in attendance the first week of a given month, you must still bring in, call in, or mail your tuition so you do not incur late charges. Late charges will accrue as follows: payment after the 10th of the month will result in a $10 late fee, payment after the 15th of the month will result in a $15 late fee, payment after the 20th and up to the last day of the month will result in a $20 late fee. Tuition that is a full month or more late will result in a $25 late fee. If tuition is one month in arrears, we request that you call the studio to discuss the situation. We are sorry to have to add these fees, but our studio and recital expenses are due throughout the season. If you are late, so are we. Due to an increasing amount of families that take advantage of the monthly payment plan we will have to enforce this rule. If you pay your tuition late and do not include the late fee, the fee will carry forward to the following month’s tuition. Tuition must be current through December’s payment in order for your costume(s) to be ordered. If your tuition is not current and we have to order your costume late, you will be responsible for the extra charges incurred by the costume company. A $35 NSF charge will be assessed for any returned or declined payment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
